It is the landscape work that particularly appeals in my opinion. Cousart’s paintings of waterways, hills, forests and even golf courses have real charm.
The brushwork is expressive, and you get the sense that the artist is working skilfully to reduce the clutter and detail of a scene down to its real values of shape, colour, highlight and shadow. It’s a minimalistic approach that captures the essence of each scene the artist paints admirably.
Cousart’s oil painting technique allows the brushstrokes to form part of a painting’s texture, and this technique works really well in some of her waterways paintings. There are many fine examples of Cousart’s ability to bring water alive with just a few strokes of carefully chosen colour and brushstroke direction.”
I love to study and capture light on almost any subject matter and that inspires me to paint many different things which I love. I am constantly challenged by that and it feeds my insatiable curiosity and endless fascination with this amazing painting journey that I am blessed to be a part of.
